Saw this article (from March) and thought it would make a good BTT confessional question:
Two-thirds of Brits have lied about reading books they haven’t. Have you? Why? What book?
I don’t think I’ve lied about reading a book since high school when I just couldn’t make it through Silas Marner. I will admit now that I read the Cliffs Notes and still got an A on the quiz.
As a public librarian, I think it is in my nature to not feel ashamed for what I have and haven’t read. I feel that we all have a basic freedom to read whatever we want, and people who try to tell you what you “should” be reading are annoying snobs.
