Which is worse?

Finding a book you love and then hating everything else you try by that author, or

Reading a completely disappointing book by an author that you love?

I'd say it is more disappointing to read one good book by an awful author.  Every author has one or two stinkers so that's no big deal.

One good example for me is Philippa Gregory.  I loved The Other Boleyn Girl, but haven't been able to get past the first hundred pages in two others of hers that I've tried.

  1. I was thinking about this question and I agree with you. I'm much more likely to forgive (the "wasted" time) of a well-liked author that comes up with a clunker once in a while. Whereas, i'd feel cheated if I read one book from an author and then kept going back hoping for goodness again only to get blah.
