You have to be kidding me…

She's a role model for children?! Wow, I hope my future children grow up to be porn stars and coke addicts…  I'm so glad she's around to make my mundane life more interesting.

Hilton backs online pardon appeal

Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton is backing an online petition seeking a pardon of her 45-day prison sentence because she enlivens "mundane" lives.

The petition to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also claims she was being used as a scapegoat to highlight the dangers of drink-driving.

'Role model'

In a message on a MySpace website, Ms Hilton apparently endorsed the online appeal, saying: "My friend Joshua started his petition, please help and sihn it (sic). I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!"

The petition paints Ms Hilton as a role model who "provides hope for young people all over the US and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives".

  1. My favorite is a quote from her from the upcoming issue of Harpers Bazaar saying she had to work to get where she is and she never would have had any of what she does if she didn't work for it. She must be kidding. I think she is famous because she's an heiress – no work required for that job.

  2. What you said. Her whole drunken, conspicuous consumption life looks pretty stupid to me.Maybe she could use a little mundane in her own life.People die from drunken drivers.I have absolute zero sympathy. You get people like this off the road.People with low-paying jobs, and no money, and messed-up lives get DUIs and have to cope somehow. She has the money for a driver, but just didn't bother.Screw her.Let her be a role model in jail — it's a great example.

  3. wickeddoll – That's great. They have over 6,000 signatures already.electric firefly – She doesn't know the meaning of hard work. Other than being good at drawing media attention, she has no talents I know of that should make her famous.Red Pen – I totally agree. I have to say I was rather pleased when I heard that she was given jail time. lauowolf – Amen! It would be a terrible example for children if she didn't have to serve her time. It would show that as long as you are rich and famous, you can do what you want. It infuriates me that she still does not seem to grasp the severity of a DUI. She could have killed someone! Also, I find it disturbing that any life other than one like hers (and some other young celebrities) is considered "mundane" by our society. Life can be exciting without billions of dollars and a sex tape.

  4. Signed the Don't Free Paris Hilton petition. I had to explain to Husband who she was and why I was laughing insanely at the thought of Miss Plastic Face spending time in nick. He still does not grasp the idea of celebrities being famous for being famous. Gotta love that man.

  5. I went looking at the BBC news article, to see if there was a link to the MySpace thing. Found this snippet of loveliness. I like the fact no one complained!
